fitness instructor Couva killed in accident | Additional news

A Couva fitness instructor, business owner and motorcyclist was killed in a car crash on Friday night.

Josiah Jamieson Phillip, 23, was pronounced dead in hospital.

Phillip was an individual trainer who in February created the “Mr. Fit” brand and opened a training facility under the same name in Noel Street, Couva.

He lived at Paradise Avenue, Calcutta No.3 McBean Village.

A police report of the crash said that around 6:10 p.m. Phillip was riding a red Suzuki motorcycle northbound along Southern Main Road when he passed a black Ford Ranger.

Phillip collided with a three-ton Mitsubishi truck driven by a 25-year-old man from Chaguanas traveling in the opposite direction.

Phillip was banked about 25 feet and landed by the roadside.

He was taken to the Couva district health center but could not be resuscitated.

Condolences poured out on social media for Phillip.

Josiah Phillip was a trainer @ SJ Fitness Transformation. And for him, exercise was very important and he believed that it should be part of everyone’s daily life.

He believed that time should be found to fit exercise into their schedule.

Josiah was a motivator and full of energy and drive, he was always eager to help someone achieve their fitness and lifestyle goals.

Josiah’s love for fitness began at a young age playing team sports.

He grew up playing cricket, basketball and football in his MC Bean based community and over the years has added aerobics, track and field, hiking and horseback riding.

He was a hard worker and full of potential to show he was a certified PTI and recently opened his own cross fit studio where he enjoyed working with each of his clients on a daily basis.

Apart from what is mentioned above he was very passionate about being a member of the Trinidad and Tobago Defense Force and loves doing anything that can make a difference in someone’s life. which is worth it.
