Sheryl Carpenter, longtime fitness instructor at the Samoset Resort Club, will take on a new role as manager starting January 22.
Carpenter is a familiar face to members and returning guests of the resort who have taken his classes over the years. She started teaching part-time fitness classes in 1993 and has been with Samoset ever since.
Carpenter was born and raised in the Midcoast and attended Georges Valley High School. She graduated from Husson College with a bachelor’s degree in business education. She has worked as a self-employed accountant / bookkeeper for 21 years.
Carpenter is certified by the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America as a Group Fitness Instructor and Personal Fitness Trainer. She brings with her over 25 years of fitness experience, an enthusiasm for new programming, a vision for club improvements, a proven commitment to the Samoset Resort and a genuine desire to be an accessible resource for members of the Club and resort guests on their journey to better health and recreation.
Carpenter is the mother of three children; she and her husband, Don, live with her youngest daughter in Tenants Harbor.
The Club offers a cardio theater, Icarian weight training center, group fitness classes, indoor pool, hot tub, and steam saunas. Its hours are 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
